Metroport was integral in pioneering the Port Klang Community System (PKCS) – Malaysia’s first e-commerce project for trade facilitation. We were selected by the government to be a part of the process involving Customs, the Klang Port Authority, forwarding agents, freight forwarders, shipping agents, port terminal operators and banks.
Through the introduction of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), the PKCS is interfaced with Customs’ information system: Sistem Maklumat Kastam.
Gains were the ease of document submission and quicker processing times, giving Metroport an edge in customs clearance.
Metroport’s status as the largest forwarding agency in Port Klang was reinforced when we were recognised as the largest user of the port.
